2024-11-02 r/8880 fix(tvix/nix_compat): Fix nix-daemon handshakeVova Kryachko1-8/+63
Existing handshake behavior assumed that the server version is always at least as new as the client. Meaning that the client's version was always picked the handshake details as well as for further communication This change removes that assumption and correctly uses min(server_version, client_version). 2024-08-25 r/8586 feat(tvix/nix-compat-derive): Add deriver for NixDeserializeBrian Olsen1-0/+7
This adds a nix-compat-derive derive crate that implements a deriver for NixDeserialize implementations. This is to reduce the amount of code needed to implement deserialization for all the types used by the Nix daemon protocol. 2024-08-25 r/8585 feat(nix-compat): Add NixDeserialize and NixRead traitsBrian Olsen8-0/+1299
Add a trait for deserializing a type from a daemon worker connection. This adds the NixDeserialize trait which is kind of like the serde Deserialize trait in that individual types are meant to implement it and it can potentially be derived in the future. The NixDeserialize trait takes something that implements NixRead as input so that you can among other things mock the reader. 2024-05-02 r/8068 chore(nix-compat): Document daemon protocol versionBrian Olsen1-0/+21
This documents which Nix version uses which daemon protocol version so that any implementor of the protocol can make informed choices about how far back to support legacy. 2024-04-30 r/8043 fix(tvix/nix-compat/wire): RangeInclusive<usize> for memory size boundsedef1-3/+3
u64 is an inappropriate type for something memory-sized, and most callers end up with off-by-ones when using `..` rather than `..=`, including the tests for the module itself. These may as well be inlined, and hardly need tests, since they just alias AsyncReadExt::read_u64_le / AsyncWriteExt::write_u64_le. Boolean reading is worth making explicit, since callers may differ on how they want to handle values other than 0 and 1. Boolean writing simplifies to `.write_u64_le(x as u64)`, which is also fine to inline. 2024-04-13 r/7897 refactor(tvix/nix-compat): move worker_protocol into nix_daemon modFlorian Klink2-0/+408
This doesn't have much to do with the plain "wire" format, it's merely one user of it. Also, use the more "public" `wire::` API to read/write bytes, strings, bools and u64s.
