2008-08-02 * Make nix-env --dry-run print the paths to be substituted correctlyEelco Dolstra2-16/+37
again. (After the previous substituter mechanism refactoring I didn't update the code that obtains the references of substitutable paths.) This required some refactoring: the substituter programs are now kept running and receive/respond to info requests via stdin/stdout.
2008-07-18 * Fix the tests.Eelco Dolstra1-0/+6
2008-07-11 * Generalised the dependencyClosure primop to builtins.genericClosure,Eelco Dolstra3-0/+380
which is hopefully more useful. * New primops: length, mul, div.
2008-07-01 * Export the nix-env derivation name parsing and version comparisonEelco Dolstra3-0/+43
logic through the `parseDrvName' and `compareVersions' primops. This will allow expressions to easily check whether some dependency is a specific needed version or falls in some version range. See tests/lang/eval-okay-versions.nix for examples.
2008-06-15 * Test instrumentation.Eelco Dolstra1-0/+1
2008-06-10 * Fixed compatibility with old versions of "wc" that print whitespaceEelco Dolstra1-2/+2
before the count.
2008-06-09 * Merged the no-bdb branch (-r10900:HEADEelco Dolstra5-8/+78
https://svn.nixos.org/repos/nix/nix/branches/no-bdb).
2008-02-05 * Doh.Eelco Dolstra1-1/+1
2008-02-05 * Regression test.Eelco Dolstra2-2/+9
2008-01-04 * New primop `unsafeDiscardStringContext' to get rid of stringEelco Dolstra2-0/+7
contexts. Needed to prevent unnecessary dependencies when building the NixOS manual.
2007-12-31 (no commit message)Eelco Dolstra2-1/+1
2007-12-30 * Fix the hashDerivationModulo test. I should really investigateEelco Dolstra1-2/+4
*why* the test failed...
2007-12-14 * Another insane Mac OS X 10.5 compatibility hack.Eelco Dolstra1-0/+14
2007-12-14 * Mac OS X 10.5 compatibility: `echo -n foo' suddenly prints `-n foo'Eelco Dolstra1-1/+1
instead of `foo' without a newline (with /bin/sh, not /bin/bash, even though /bin/sh is also bash...). So use printf instead.
2007-12-06 * Syntax to escape '', ${.Eelco Dolstra2-2/+8
2007-11-30 * Added a new kind of multi-line string literal delimited by twoEelco Dolstra2-0/+108
single quotes. Example (from NixOS): job = '' start on network-interfaces start script rm -f /var/run/opengl-driver ${if videoDriver == "nvidia" then "ln -sf ${nvidiaDrivers} /var/run/opengl-driver" else if cfg.driSupport then "ln -sf ${mesa} /var/run/opengl-driver" else "" } rm -f /var/log/slim.log end script ''; This style has two big advantages: - \, ' and " aren't special, only '' and ${. So you get a lot less escaping in shell scripts / configuration files in Nixpkgs/NixOS. The delimiter '' is rare in scripts (and can usually be written as ""). ${ is also fairly rare. Other delimiters such as <<...>>, {{...}} and <|...|> were also considered but this one appears to have the fewest drawbacks (thanks Martin). - Indentation is intelligently stripped so that multi-line strings can follow the nesting structure of the containing Nix expression. E.g. in the example above 6 spaces are stripped from the start of each line. This prevents unnecessary indentation in generated files (which sometimes even breaks things). See tests/lang/eval-okay-ind-string.nix for some examples.
2007-11-29 * nix-env -e: support uninstalling by path, so that one can sayEelco Dolstra1-0/+11
$ nix-env -e $(which firefox) or $ nix-env -e /nix/store/nywzlygrkfcgz7dfmhm5xixlx1l0m60v-pan-0.132 * nix-env -i: if an argument contains a slash anywhere, treat it as a path and follow it through symlinks into the Nix store. This allows things like $ nix-build -A firefox $ nix-env -i ./result * nix-env -q/-i/-e: don't complain when the `*' selector doesn't match anything. In particular, `nix-env -q \*' doesn't fail anymore on an empty profile.
2007-11-21 * New primop `readFile' to get the contents of a file as a string.Eelco Dolstra2-0/+2
2007-09-11 * Test the impureEnvVars feature.Eelco Dolstra3-0/+6
2007-09-04 * nix-push / generate-patches: bzip the manifest.Eelco Dolstra3-2/+5
2007-08-28 * Doh! Broken test.Eelco Dolstra1-3/+3
2007-08-28 * Test case to show that parallel builds of different fixed-outputEelco Dolstra3-1/+28
derivations that produce the same output path don't work properly wrt locking. This happens a lot in the build farm when fetchurl derivations downloading the same file on different platforms are executed in parallel and then copied back to the main machine.
2007-08-18 primop functions listToAttrs (+test), __isAttrs, __trace addedMarc Weber2-0/+9
new configuration style proposal in lib/default-unstable.nix
2007-08-14 * Hopefully this fixes the test on FreeBSD.Eelco Dolstra2-3/+3
2007-08-13 * A test for the nix-worker.Eelco Dolstra4-2/+24
2007-08-13 * Fix the tests.Eelco Dolstra12-63/+67
2007-05-15 * Allow empty argument lists in function definitions (e.g., `{}:Eelco Dolstra2-0/+2
bla'). Also allow trailing commas (`{x, y,}: ...') as a unintented consequence. Hopefully the reduce/reduce conflict won't cause any problems.
2007-02-21 * Don't use $SHELL.Eelco Dolstra3-10/+2
2007-01-29 New primitives:Eelco Dolstra6-4/+41
* `sub' to subtract two numbers. * `stringLength' to get the length of a string. * `substring' to get a substring of a string. These should be enough to allow most string operations to be expressed.
2007-01-15 * builtins.filterSource: pass the type of the file ("regular",Eelco Dolstra2-1/+5
"directory", "symlink") as the second argument to the filter predicate.
2007-01-14 * Don't forget the .flags files.Eelco Dolstra1-1/+1
2007-01-14 * Option --argstr for passing string arguments easily. (NIX-75)Eelco Dolstra4-1/+22
2007-01-13 * Canonicalise ASTs in `nix-instantiate --eval': remove positionEelco Dolstra4-4/+4
info, sort attribute sets.
2006-12-12 * New primop builtins.filterSource, which can be used to filter filesEelco Dolstra3-1/+23
from a source directory. All files for which a predicate function returns true are copied to the store. Typical example is to leave out the .svn directory: stdenv.mkDerivation { ... src = builtins.filterSource (path: baseNameOf (toString path) != ".svn") ./source-dir; # as opposed to # src = ./source-dir; } This is important because the .svn directory influences the hash in a rather unpredictable and variable way.
2006-12-12 * New built-in function `builtins.attrNames' that returns theEelco Dolstra2-0/+12
names of the attributes in an attribute set.
2006-12-02 * Clear NIX_REMOTE in the tests.Eelco Dolstra1-0/+2
2006-10-19 * Checks for allowedReferences and some other features.Eelco Dolstra4-2/+100
* Use nix-build in a test.
2006-10-17 * Another test.Eelco Dolstra1-0/+1
2006-10-17 * Fix the tests wrt the AST changes, i.e., Str(s) -> Str(s, []), andEelco Dolstra19-22/+22
the semantic changes.
2006-10-11 * Removed URIs from the evaluator (NIX-66). They are now just anotherEelco Dolstra3-3/+3
kind of notation for strings.
2006-10-03 * toFile: added an additional argument to specify the store pathEelco Dolstra1-1/+1
suffix, e.g., `builtins.toFile "builder.sh" "..."'. * toFile: handle references to other files correctly.
2006-10-02 * Finally, a real "let" syntax: `let x = ...; ... z = ...; in ...'.Eelco Dolstra2-0/+15
2006-09-24 * Primop `toPath' to convert a string to a path.Eelco Dolstra2-0/+4
* Primop `pathExists' to check for path existence.
2006-09-24 * Builtin function `getEnv' for getting environment variables.Eelco Dolstra3-0/+4
2006-09-24 * lessThan primitive for integer comparison.Eelco Dolstra1-1/+4
2006-09-22 * Builtin function `add' to add integers.Eelco Dolstra8-26/+48
* Put common test functions in tests/lang/lib.nix.
2006-09-22 * Added a builtin function `isList' to test whether a value is a list.Eelco Dolstra2-0/+20
With this primitive, a list-flattening function can be implemented (NIX-55, example is in tests/lang/eval-okay-flatten.nix).
2006-09-22 * Builtin functions `head' and `tail' to return the head and tail ofEelco Dolstra2-0/+14
list. Useful for lots of things, such as implementing a fold function (see NIX-30, example is in tests/lang/eval-okay-list.nix).
2006-09-22 * New builtin functions builtins.{hasAttr, getAttr} to check forEelco Dolstra2-0/+11
attribute existence and to return an attribute from an attribute set, respectively. Example: `hasAttr "foo" {foo = 1;}'. They differ from the `?' and `.' operators in that the attribute name is an arbitrary expression. (NIX-61)
2006-09-21 * `nix-install-package --url': install from a URL (NIX-12).Eelco Dolstra7-16/+45
* `nix-install-package --help' (NIX-9). * `nix-install-package --non-interactive': don't prompt or pause. * Tests for nix-install-package. * Security fixes: filter the values obtained from the nixpkg.
